User-Centric Design of the Women's Tennis Association's Website

The WTA paves the way for Women in professional sports, but its dated website struggled to represent this in the digital world. The WTA wanted a new website to deliver its business objective of creating a more modern and user-centric digital experience for its fan base and the media.

The Challenge

Pulselive was engaged to create this new website on a new platform and CMS. I was the lead creative on the project and led art direction, UX and UI throughout the project, from initial concept visuals to the launch of the website.

As lead creative, my goal was to completely overhaul the WTA’s digital presence and to bring its website up to modern web standards. This included a comprehensive visual refresh, and an update to the user experience and information architecture.

My Approach

To achieve this I -

  • Translated WTA’s requirements into designs through a series of ideation sessions and consultation with other members of the project to inform feature requirements.
  • Created wireframes and redesigned the IA and user flows to simplify and streamline user journeys throughout the website.
  • Created a scalable design system and UI kit to assist future features and design handoff.
  • Created final visual designs to bring the website in line with web accessibility standards, incorporate the client’s new branding and convey a more modern feel.
  • Presented visuals and UX processes to internal and external stakeholders to walk them through design thinking, approach and benefits to them and their users.
  • Collaborated with engineers, handing over designs in Zeplin with requirements, style guides, and UI kits, as well as being on hand for advice, design reviews, and design sign off.
